reduced pain perception
Other names: hypalgezie, anesthesia, analgesia, painless
Reduced pain sensation (hypalgezie) emerges in crisis situations when the body is due to stress, “drugged” own “opiates” called endorphins. Thanks to these and many other substances that allow the body reaching to the bottom of its own forces, are known cases where a person with serious injuries was able to move (even in extreme weather conditions) up to rescue kilometers away.
Hypalgezie is also part of the overall picture of serious disruption of the body’s response to its balance and integrity – shock.
Reduced pain sensation (and danger) is typical for alcohol intoxication, and many other addictive substances.
Hypalgezie beyond the acute condition is caused in some neuropathy, or nerve malfunctions. The most famous is probably so. Diabetic neuropathy, leading to the development of diabetic foot syndrome. It indicates a reduced perception of different sensations (compressive, tensile, cold, heat and pain) in the lower extremities. Sick therefore unaware that limb dips into hot water, or that it has in the shoe gravel that the shoe presses etc., and your foot hurts constantly. Injuries heal poorly due to poor blood supply to the limb (also a consequence of diabetes), and it essentially is a vicious circle. Therefore, diabetics must wear a special shoe that is designed directly to a specific limb.
If you notice wore a reduced perception of pain to some body parts, talk to your doctor.
