The normal respiratory rate in adult humans ranges between 12 to 20 breaths per minute. Panting (tachypnea), possibly also the deeper (hyperventilation), it is a normal response to physical activity and emotional burden and stress. Reduced response to these factors is typical for athletes and people exposed to long-term stressful situations.
