Drooping is technically called ptosis and can have various causes.

Drooping eyelid may be congenital due to congenital deficiency muscle which raises the lid. This condition can be solved surgically.

In adulthood can fall on both sides of the lid, for example, in myasthenia gravis. This disease is characterized by the formation of muscle weakness throughout the body, but can exist only as ocular form, which can occur in addition to dropping eyelids and double vision due to weakness of eye muscles. Typical for this disease is that the symptoms are formed or deteriorate only with the day, particularly after muscular exertion.
