Other names: feeling of pressure in the eye

The pressure in the eye may be caused by a variety of causes. It is a feeling of pressure in the eye, like it from the back side relegate anything.

This may be -inflammation neuritis of the optic nerve – basically there are two types – bulbar (there are noticeable changes in the examination of the fundus) and retrobulbar (the fundus changes are not evident).

Another important symptom is the deterioration of visual function. Deterioration is relatively sudden and striking, however, after the resolution of inflammation occurs even dramatic improvement in vision. Affected are mostly all modalities of vision: visual acuity, color vision, visual field. In these conditions it is necessary to consult a doctor.

Retrobulbar neuritis is often the first symptom of multiple sclerosis, the sooner you begin treatment, the prognosis is favorable.

Pain and pressure on the eyeball can cause a tumor, vascular malformation. Usually the eye is pushed out of orbit- arises exophtalmus. Again, you must see a doctor as soon as possible.
