Pain in the lower abdomen tend to have the most women during menstruation or immediately before (see. Flag menstrual pain). Pain in the right side of the abdomen with the possibility of spreading to the left or upwards under the costal arch is characteristic for acute appendicitis, which often require surgical excision.
Pain localized deeper into the abdomen can tie some diseases of the rectum. Other times, the pain radiates from here to other sites – eg. The pancreas (usually at its acute inflammation), andgallbladder (inflammation, biliary colic, stones in the gallbladder). Flank pain with radiation to the groin is characteristic of renal colic.
Such conditions are usually treated in a hospital, where doctors administered painkillers and medications also dampening cramping, usually intravenous or infusion.
