Pathologic fracture is such a fracture that resulted from such a trauma, which would be healthy and well-built bone resisted. In other words, pathologic fracture is a manifestation of a disease of bone, bone structure, and bone is broken thus breaking during normal load. In extreme cases, a patient may, for example, break a vertebra just that abruptly sits on a chair.
The most common cause pathological fractures is osteoporosis – “osteoporosis”. This disease develops particularly in postmenopausal women and elderly people.
Pathological fracture may be a sign of cancer that form bone metastasis.
Another disease which can thus occur as Paget’s disease, osteomalacia (vitamin D deficiency),rickets (vitamin D deficiency in children).
