Digestive system

Digestive system (apparatus digestorius) is a group of organs that are involved in receiving, processing and excretion of food.

The main functions of the digestive system can be divided according to the type of performance:

  • food intake
  • digestion
  • absorption
  • removing digestible waste substances

All these processes are controlled by neurogenic and humoral through the hormones which are formed directly in the digestive system.
